Last night I had a chance to shoot with a couple of great local models. We shot a bunch of stock and afterward had fun playing with concepts against the awesome red wall. I haven’t had a chance to go through all the photos, but here is one that caught my eye as I watched them upload.

As I’ve mentioned several times in my latest posts and tweets, I’ve recently moved into a shared studio space and have been playing a lot lately there to improve my lighting skills. Last night for date night, Julie and I spend a couple of hours after dinner shooting some images on a white background. (Something I’ve never done before.) Here are few of my favorites.

Yesterday the rain let up in the afternoon just long enough to shoot a family portrait. We scheduled the time a few days early, knowing it was going to rain, but hoping it would stop in time for the pics. We got great shots and only had to hurry on the last few poses because of the rain. Here is one of the group.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to shoot a portrait for this young lady and her family. I was taken by her beautiful red hair.

This evening I had the opportunity to do a portrait for my nephew before he leaves for a 2-year mission in Argentina next week. Good luck Mattias. Here is one from our session.

Yesterday morning I spent several hours with the Photowalking Utah looking at different lighting set-ups. It was fun to play around with the lights and made me want to get my lights out more. Here are a couple of shots I took. The first is shot of Kim and Bonnie using Kim’s beauty dish with an Ikea cutting board as a diffuser. I really liked the results from it. The second is from a stock shoot setup.
Afterword, I ran up to shoot Hailey’s bridals in SLC. They are stunning. I’ll post them after the wedding. (Don’t want the groom to get a sneak peak.)

This afternoon I was able to shoot a portrait for a great family. They were such good sports to deal with all the snow. (Really, you guys were awesome.) Sometimes the bad weather makes for more memorable pictures. We were all cold but we made some great images. I’m currently downloading them to my computer, but here are few of my favorites so far.

Here is a portrait I shot yesterday with my new Canon 5d Mark II. (1/320sec at f/4, ISO 100 with 20mm f/2.8)

It’s become tradition at the Olson house to set up a Halloween backdrop each year and take portraits for all the neighborhood witches and goblins. Here is the first page of the contact sheet from the shoot.

Okay, so this isn’t an arial photograph, but an arial subject. I’ve been going through some past shoots trying to get a group of newer photos out onto my web site. While looking through a shoot at the salt flats, I found this gem. This boy and his father were playing this game while I was working with a different family. But, I just had to get a photo of it. I love how he looked right over at me when I got this photo.
